End of 'this' blog
Thursday, April 12, 2007 This blog has been moved to archives (that’s here really) and I’ve set up a new front page.
Use the Frontpage link on the left or click here. You can then rebookmark the new site from there.
Bookmarks with mikepower.net/mrpower2 will link to this old blog. To access the new ‘non-blog’, please either re-bookmark from the frontpage url or just knock off the /mrpower2/ bit :)
‘not-a-blog.com’ will also get you there but the WWW subdomain is playing up at the moment. Easiest thing to do is just use mikepower.net. Apologies for the messing around due to my brainstorm/sulk/inebriation/etc etc. But I do feel strangely better for it. I feel like I’m starting afresh with a new site. And I hope to get back to the sort of eclectic link (not)-blogging that I used to really enjoy. I’m also going to incorporate the ‘NewsPages’ into this site rather than having them elswhere. I just need to sort out using PHP includes with Squarespace.
I’ve decided to call it ‘Not A Blog’ because I want to get away from all the arguments about blog standards, etiquette and even what exactly constitutes a blog. There are no comments (there never were any on the old ‘blog’) there is no ‘conversation’ and there is no ‘interactivity’.
I hope the redirections and DNS changes finally settle down again. I got myself into a right pickle! There are problems pointing more than one URL (Google doesn’t like it etc) and I can’t be bothered to set up seperate hosting accounts and name servers so I’ll be reverting to the previous links and just setting up simple redirects if I need them.
I’ve taken down a couple of posts (ooh er missus, are you allowed to do that?) because I can’t see the point in leaving posts up which told people I was closing/reopening/pausing/redirecting/renaming/repainting blah, blah, blah. Just because I had a brainstorm doesn’t mean I have to keep a permanent record of my impetuous fits of pique :)
A new design, a new emphasis, a return (I hope) to an enjoyable pastime rather than an irritating and annoying habit and, most of all, a sense of proportion. My, my, I sound almost sensible. These drugs really are very good!
