Hey, I might be proved right!

Was Bob Woolmer murdered? Doubts creeping in
Flanked by his boss, Commissioner Lucius Thomas, Shields handled the clamour for details with impeccable courtesy and authority. He grew more assured with each new media briefing. But now that self-assurance is beginning to look slightly dented.

There is now such deep concern about the case, and the general standards of work by the 50 officers under Shields's command, that three senior Scotland Yard murder squad detectives are flying out to Jamaica. At the same time, the Pakistan authorities have announced they, too, will be sending a detective.

By last Wednesday those of us who have liaised closely with Mr Shields, an engaging Essex-born career policeman, noticed that his body language and phraseology suggested a subtle change in his thinking.
Well I hope I get some kudos for being one of the very few people who doubted this 'murder' story from the start. For me the single biggest problem with the murder theory is that he was found naked . So, unless there are some sexual overtones to this (and strangulation of men is very often sex related) I don't think anyone else was involved. We shall see.

UPDATE: It's looking more and more likely that I was right:
Did Woolmer die in fall after downing bottle of whisky?

The revelation has fuelled mounting speculation that the Pakistan cricket coach's death was not murder but a tragic accident. A witness described how the 58-year-old sat alone in the bar of the Hotel Pegasus in Kingston after Pakistan crashed out of the ICC Cricket World Cup and 'drowned his sorrows' with a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black Label. The claim adds considerable weight to suggestions by forensic experts that a tiny bone in Mr Woolmer's neck could have been broken as a result of a fall rather than by strangulation.
